Our guests last week were in for a treat when a young red squirrel appeared on our bird feeder.! Richard zoomed off to The Birds Bistro in Penruddock for a supply of Italian hazlenuts and rapidly cleaned and attached our old squirrel feeder (last used over 5 years ago) – however Squirrel Nutkin is not too bright and has yet to work out how to use it. Have considered a neon sign saying “Nuts” – but apparently squirrels can’t read 🙂
A neighbour in Hartsop has seen two squirrels – clearly siblings as they happily feed on his feeder at the same time with impeccable manners towards each other.
Let’s hope a new squirrel dynasty has begun and grateful thanks to all at Red Alert for the important conservation work they undertake which has led to this outcome.
