View of Grey Crag from Stone Cottage

A Panorama of Patterdale from Stone Cottage

2nd July 2018

Taken in the heat of June 2018 the video shows the fabulous almost 240 degree panorama that guests enjoy from the front of Stone Cottage. As you scan the video starts with Deepdale Park in the foreground, then the peak of Hartsop Dodd appears, followed by Grey Crag’s distinctive grey shale slopes, then Slinger Wood on the slopes of Brock Crags, Angle Tarn Pikes and the clear path up to Boredale Hause. Finally resting on Place Fell (657m) which makes a wonderful objective for those wishing to “get to the top of something big” and enjoy stunning views of Ullswater as they climb. There is a reason that Alfred Wainwright wrote his first two books within the Patterdale Valley – the walking and the peace and quiet are both difficult to beat. If you turn up the sound you will hear the birdsong!
