About Us

We moved to the Lakes from Southern England over 25 years ago and delight in extending a warm welcome to guests many of whom have been staying in this idyllic location for years.

 

Stone Cottage was our first renovation project and always our favourite house. We yearned to move to the same location and 5 years ago our dream came true and we set about refurbishing Hares Garth and then designing our own own Grand Design next door.

 

Our cottages are a testament to our passion for design and craftsmanship. As a local architect Richard leads the way with innovative designs and hands-on building, while Helen adds her unique flair through thoughtful interiors and collaborations with talented local artists. From bespoke light fittings to cozy wool cushions, our spaces are filled with creativity and inspiration.

We are keen fell walkers and are always happy to help you plan an itinerary either when you are here or in advance of your stay. Our personal touch extends to many little extras all sourced locally from toiletries to tea and coffee. Plus every booking you make directly with us results in a donation to The Lake District Foundation, a conservation charity committed to caring for the natural environment of Cumbria.
